Changes to the Itinerary

Alesa Tours makes every reasonable effort to operate tours according to the confirmed itinerary. However, itineraries, schedules, routes, activities, and transportation arrangements may need to be adjusted due to weather conditions, river levels, forest fires, haze, safety concerns, local circumstances, or other unforeseen events.

Any necessary changes will be made with the safety and well-being of clients as a priority. Alesa Tours will inform clients of significant changes as soon as reasonably possible and, where practicable, offer suitable alternative arrangements.

Weather and River Conditions

River cruises and boat journeys in Borneo may be affected by changing weather, water levels, strong currents, floating debris, navigation conditions, and other natural factors.

Boat departures, travel times, routes, and planned activities may be delayed, modified, or cancelled when conditions are considered unsuitable or unsafe by the boat operator or tour leader.

Clients are expected to follow all safety instructions given by the boat crew, tour leader, and local guides throughout the journey.

Wildlife and Nature-Based Activities

Wildlife sightings and nature-based experiences cannot be guaranteed. Animal movements, seasonal conditions, forest fires, haze, and environmental factors may affect opportunities to observe wildlife during a tour.

Alesa Tours may modify or replace planned activities when necessary to protect clients, wildlife, local communities, and the natural environment.

Delays and Other Unforeseen Circumstances

Delays may occur due to adverse weather, forest fires, haze, river conditions, road access, mechanical issues, local events, or other circumstances beyond the reasonable control of Alesa Tours.

The company will make reasonable efforts to minimize disruption and communicate relevant updates to clients. Any additional expenses arising from delays or itinerary changes will be handled according to the confirmed booking terms and the circumstances involved.

Forest Fires, Haze, Volcanic Ash, and Flight Disruptions

Forest and land fires may cause haze and reduced visibility in parts of Borneo, particularly during the dry season. Volcanic eruptions in Borneo or other regions may also produce volcanic ash that can affect air travel.

Forest fires, haze, and volcanic ash may disrupt flight operations and result in flight delays, schedule changes, diversions, or cancellations. These conditions may also affect road transportation, river journeys, and outdoor activities, depending on their location and severity.

Flight operations and decisions to delay, divert, or cancel flights are determined by the relevant airlines, airport authorities, and aviation authorities. Alesa Tours cannot guarantee flight schedules or control such decisions.

Clients are advised to allow sufficient time for flight connections and onward travel. If these circumstances disrupt a confirmed tour, Alesa Tours will make reasonable efforts to assist with alternative arrangements where possible. Any additional costs, refunds, or booking changes will be handled in accordance with the confirmed booking terms, applicable airline policies, and relevant law.

Alternative Arrangements

If a planned service or activity cannot be provided, Alesa Tours will make reasonable efforts to arrange a suitable alternative where possible.

Any significant changes involving additional costs, reduced services, refunds, or compensation will be addressed in accordance with the confirmed booking terms and applicable law.

Travel Documents

Clients are responsible for ensuring that they hold valid travel documents required for their journey, including passports, visas, permits, and any other documents required by the relevant authorities.

Clients should check the validity of their travel documents and entry requirements before departure. Alesa Tours is not responsible for delays, denied boarding, or refused entry resulting from incomplete, invalid, or insufficient travel documents.

Visa and Entry Requirements

Clients are responsible for obtaining the appropriate visas and meeting the entry, transit, and immigration requirements applicable to their nationality and travel itinerary.

Any visa assistance or information provided by Alesa Tours is for general guidance only. Final decisions regarding visas, entry, and immigration remain with the relevant authorities.

Personal Responsibility

Clients are expected to follow local laws, regulations, cultural practices, and instructions provided by Alesa Tours, tour leaders, local guides, boat crews, and other service providers.

Clients must behave responsibly and avoid actions that may endanger themselves, other participants, local communities, wildlife, or the natural environment.

Failure to Meet Travel Requirements

If a client is unable to travel or participate in a tour because they do not meet applicable travel document, visa, immigration, or other entry requirements, any resulting cancellation charges, additional expenses, or refund eligibility will be handled in accordance with the applicable booking terms and relevant law.

Travel Insurance

Clients are strongly advised to obtain comprehensive travel insurance before departure. The insurance should cover, where applicable, medical expenses, emergency evacuation, trip cancellation, travel delays, lost or damaged baggage, and other unexpected travel-related costs.

Clients are responsible for ensuring that their insurance policy provides adequate coverage for the activities included in their tour, particularly river cruises, boat journeys, jungle trekking, and other outdoor or adventure activities.

Alesa Tours does not provide personal travel insurance unless explicitly stated in the booking confirmation.

Health and Medical Conditions

Clients are responsible for assessing their own fitness to participate in the tour and for informing Alesa Tours of any medical conditions, allergies, dietary restrictions, mobility limitations, or other relevant requirements before departure.

Some destinations in Borneo are remote and may have limited access to medical facilities. Clients should bring sufficient personal medication and any necessary medical supplies for the duration of their trip.

Safety Instructions

Clients must follow all safety instructions provided by Alesa Tours, tour leaders, local guides, boat crews, drivers, and other relevant personnel.

For river journeys and outdoor activities, clients may be required to use appropriate safety equipment, including life jackets, and comply with instructions concerning boat movement, boarding, disembarking, and wildlife observation.

Alesa Tours reserves the right to modify or discontinue an activity if conditions are considered unsafe.

Medical Emergencies

In the event of illness, injury, or a medical emergency, Alesa Tours will make reasonable efforts to assist clients in obtaining appropriate help, subject to local conditions, available facilities, and communication access.

Any medical treatment, evacuation, transportation, accommodation, or other emergency-related expenses remain the responsibility of the client, unless otherwise agreed in writing or covered by an applicable insurance policy.

Participation and Safety

Clients must act responsibly and avoid behaviour that may endanger themselves, other participants, local communities, wildlife, or the environment.

Alesa Tours may refuse or discontinue a client’s participation in an activity when reasonably necessary for safety reasons. Any resulting refund or additional charges will be handled in accordance with the applicable booking terms and relevant law.

Third-Party Service Providers

Some tour services arranged by Alesa Tours may be provided by independent third parties, including airlines, hotels, boat operators, transport companies, and other service providers.

These services may be subject to the respective providers’ terms, conditions, and operational policies. Alesa Tours will make reasonable efforts to work with reliable service providers but cannot control every aspect of their operations.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits any liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited under applicable law.

Client Conduct and Non-Compliance

Alesa Tours shall not be responsible for consequences arising from a client’s failure to follow safety instructions, comply with local laws, provide accurate information, or meet applicable travel requirements, to the extent permitted by law.

Clients remain responsible for their own actions and for any loss or damage they cause to property, other participants, service providers, local communities, or the natural environment.

Applicable Law

Nothing in this section is intended to exclude or restrict any consumer rights, statutory protections, or legal responsibilities that apply under Indonesian law or other applicable laws.

If a client experiences any problem or is dissatisfied with a service during the tour, they should inform the tour leader, local guide, or Alesa Tours as soon as reasonably possible.

Prompt notification allows Alesa Tours an opportunity to investigate the matter and attempt to resolve the issue while the tour is still in progress.
